Single Day Dentistry Program

The Single Day Dentistry program was established 30 years ago.  This program is dedicated to treating patients who are unable to be treated in the traditional dental office environment and can benefit by having their dental treatment performed in a hospital setting utilizing sedation or general anesthesia.  There is a decreased need for multiple dental visits, as most or all of the treatment can be accomplished in a single treatment session.

The following individuals are candidates for this special program:

• Mentally and/or physically challenged patients
• Medically compromised patients (e.g., cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, seizure disorders, uncontrolled diabetes, dementia, and severe cardiovascular disorders) 
• Dental Phobic patients

Single Day Dentistry is a multi-disciplinary program that utilizes dentists, medical doctors and medical support teams to provide quality dental care to the patient.  The dentistry is performed by a team of specialists, including a restorative-cosmetic dentist(s), periodontist, endodontist, oral surgeon and an oral medicine dentist.  Dr. Steven Hart and Dr. Robert Rose have privileges at the Main Line Health Hospitals (Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lankenau Hospital and Paoli Hospital).  Depending on the type and extent of dental treatment necessary, patients can be treated in Bryn Mawr Hospital's out-patient Surgical Center or  Operating Room.
